Thermo Fluids engineering - General Information
the main goal of the thermo fluids engineering division is to contribute to the development of new equipment in which fluid flows, mass transfer, heat transfer and chemical reaction play a prominent role. Examples where such equipment can be found are the process and energy industry, which are of crucial importance for the European economy. Other examples are the chemical and petrochemical industry in the transport and automotive industry. Besides that, the development of sustainable energy conversion techniques is very important to meet our future energy demands. New developments in all these sectors are investigated, ranging for instance from new solar cell applications, biomass equipment, improved heat-exchanger systems and multi-phase flow separator techniques, to improve gas turbine and engine combustion systems. But also on a much smaller scale, heat and mass transfer may play a prominent role in electronics cooling, domestic burners, air cleaning systems and in humans during surgery and medical treatment with example. The basic of thermofluid engineering is thermodynamics and fluid mechanics..=)
